Mother of 2-year-old child who died in Gumi faces arrest warrant hearing... Abuse under investigation
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Regarding the case in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, where a 2-year-old girl was found dead in a villa, the child's mother, Ms. A, underwent a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) on the 12th.
Ms. A attended the warrant hearing at the Daegu District Court Gimcheon Branch from 11 a.m. for 30 minutes. After the hearing, she remained silent when reporters asked about the reasons for neglect. The Gumi Police Department applied for an arrest warrant for Ms. A the previous day.
Ms. A is suspected of causing the death of her young daughter by neglecting her in their home (charge: murder). The deceased girl was discovered around 3 p.m. on the 10th in a villa in Sangmo Sagok-dong, Gumi City, by Ms. A’s parents, who live on the floor below, and they reported it to the police.
Ms. A’s parents, unable to contact her and responding to the landlord’s request to vacate the house, went to Ms. A’s residence and found the body of their granddaughter, which had been decomposing for some time.
The police determined that after Ms. A’s husband left the home long ago, Ms. A was taking care of the child alone but had left the house. She was urgently arrested. Investigations revealed that Ms. A had moved six months ago and was already aware of the child’s death.
