[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] The twin sisters Lee Jae-young and Lee Da-young of the women's professional volleyball team Heungkuk Life, recently embroiled in a school violence controversy, have left the team dormitory.
On the 11th, Heungkuk Life stated, "The two players have currently left the team dormitory," and added that they plan to support the twins' recovery through psychological treatment and other means.
An official said, "We are well aware of the demands to discipline the twin sisters regarding the school violence controversy," but added, "Currently, the condition of the two players is very poor, and they need to take mental and physical rest."
He continued, "Discipline should be imposed only when the players are in a mental and physical state to accept it," expressing the view that protecting the players comes before punishment at this time.

The author, who said they played together with the twins on the elementary and middle school volleyball teams, revealed, "If the twins didn't like someone, they insulted and cursed their parents, calling them 'your XX, XX,' and when errands were refused, they threatened with a knife," adding, "They frequently collected money, pinched stomachs, slapped faces, and gathered people to hit their heads."
As the controversy spread, the Lee Jae-young and Da-young sisters posted apologies on their respective Instagram accounts. In handwritten apology letters, they said, "We are deeply sorry to those who suffered due to our wrong words and actions during school days," and "We feel deep remorse and will reflect and stay humble."
However, even after the Instagram apologies were posted, the controversy surrounding the two does not seem to subside easily. A victim who saw the apology expressed their feelings, saying, "It feels hollow." After the apology, it was revealed that Lee Da-young unfollowed teammate Kim Yeon-koung's Instagram account, sparking rumors of discord once again.
Eventually, a petition demanding their permanent expulsion was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
