View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Gang-wook] On the 10th, a day before the Lunar New Year holiday, Byeon Chang-heum, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, visited Manghyang Rest Area (Busan direction) and Seoul Express Bus Terminal to inspect quarantine measures in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced.
At Manghyang Rest Area, Minister Byeon received a report on the rest area’s quarantine measures from the Korea Expressway Corporation and encouraged the officials by saying, “The public will not forget the efforts of all the personnel working on-site for quarantine and safety for everyone.”
Minister Byeon stated, “The government is fully responding to quarantine and safety by converting expressway tolls to paid to discourage travel according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities and implementing joint special traffic measures,” adding, “In particular, please thoroughly manage quarantine procedures such as temperature checks and entry log registration so that the public can use rest areas with peace of mind and safety.”
He also urged, “It is no exaggeration to say that the spread of COVID-19 depends on the success of quarantine at rest areas, so please be vigilant to prevent blind spots in quarantine and conduct more thorough and meticulous inspections of multi-use facilities within rest areas such as restrooms and coffee shops.”
Afterwards, Minister Byeon visited Seoul Express Bus Terminal to directly check the disinfection status of express buses and inspected quarantine and disinfection activities in the terminal waiting room, ticket offices, and unmanned ticket machines.
At this occasion, he encouraged the personnel dedicated to quarantine activities and ordered, “Please comply with the highest-level quarantine rules so that the public can use buses with confidence.”

In particular, Minister Byeon requested the bus industry to “make efforts to create an environment for safe driving by providing bus drivers with sufficient rest time and avoiding excessive dispatching, and also thoroughly conduct pre-safety education and vehicle inspections.”
