Na Kyung-won: "Let's Create a Unified Opposition Platform Through This Election... From Centrists to Progressives"
Political Restructuring Needed for Opposition's Victory in Presidential Election
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Na Kyung-won, a former lawmaker and a preliminary candidate for the Seoul mayor from the People Power Party, proposed on the 10th a 'pan-opposition platform' that encompasses conservatives, centrists, and rational progressives. She stated that political reorganization is necessary not only for the Seoul mayoral race but also for next year's presidential election.

At a press conference held at her Yeouido office on the same day, Na said, "Once the Seoul mayoral by-election ends, the presidential race will immediately begin," adding, "Except for Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, the opposition's presence is minimal in terms of influence. I believe that without new political reorganization, the opposition candidates cannot properly establish themselves."
She stated, "There must be a political reorganization that encompasses all of this," and added, "In that sense, the campaign for this by-election itself should be a process of creating such a platform." She continued, "Within that platform, everyone who stands on the side of common sense and justice, from rational progressives to centrists and rational conservatives, should come together as one," and said, "If anyone is fed up with the closed, exclusive, and isolationist politics of the pro-Moon faction and the Democratic Party, they should confidently compete under this platform."
Na presented this political reorganization not limited to the founding of a new party but as a platform. She said, "Shouldn't we create a bigger platform?" and added, "At the center of it, the People Power Party must be present." She said, "This election campaign seems to be a large platform," and added, "After the election, it is important to unite even the progressives." She emphasized, "Opposition unification should not be seen as a one-time unification," and stressed, "We need to create a new political wave."

She also expressed her willingness to unify the opposition candidates for the imminent Seoul mayoral election.
