Changwon, Haman, and Changnyeong Unite in Calling for the Necessity of the 'Changwon Industrial Line'
Proposal to Include Changwon Industrial Line Connecting Daegu-Changnyeong-Haman-Changwon in the 4th National Railroad Network Plan

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Haman County, and Changnyeong County in Gyeongnam adopted a joint petition on the 10th, requesting the inclusion of the 'Changwon Industrial Line' in the currently being established '4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan' and submitted it to the government.
Along the Jungbu Inland Expressway connecting Changwon National Industrial Complex and Daegu National Industrial Complex, there are 25 industrial complexes concentrated, including Changnyeong Nexen-Daehap General Industrial Complex and Haman Chilseo General Industrial Complex.
Because of this, the Jungbu Inland Expressway experiences frequent congestion due to freight trucks accounting for 54.2% of the total traffic volume, which increases by 7.1% annually.
Additionally, with the confirmation of the construction of Jinhae New Port, which is 2.5 times the scale of Busan New Port, the logistics traffic volume between Daegu and Changwon is expected to increase further.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport planned the 'Daegu Industrial Line,' which connects only from Seodaegu Station to Changnyeong Daehap Industrial Complex, not the entire Daegu-Changwon section, when establishing the '3rd National Railroad Network Construction Plan.' However, only the section from Seodaegu Station to Daegu National Industrial Complex, excluding the Changnyeong section, is being promoted with the preliminary feasibility study exemption.
In response, Changwon City, Haman County, and Changnyeong County have continuously requested the establishment of a railroad logistics network connecting Seodaegu-Changnyeong-Haman-Changwon, and have united their efforts once again by adopting this joint petition.
Only when the Changwon Industrial Line is connected in conjunction with the currently promoted Daegu Industrial Line can a railroad logistics network between Daegu and Changwon be established, overcoming the limitations of road traffic and enhancing the competitiveness of national institution logistics industries.
Furthermore, by completing the final link of the circular railroad network (MTX) encompassing the 13 million population Southeast Mega City, it is expected to play a pivotal role in revitalizing human and material exchanges between large cities and medium and small cities, thereby securing regional competitiveness.
