Gwangju Police Deliver Consolation Money to 'Talbukmin Families' for Lunar New Year

On the 8th, according to the Gwangju Police Agency, 29 members including Jo Deok-seon, chairman of the Security Advisory Council, selected 20 North Korean defector families who are facing social and economic difficulties and delivered consolation money to them.
The selection was made with the cooperation of the Gwangju Police Agency, and 500,000 won was provided per household.
In April of last year, the Security Advisory Council of the Gwangju Police Agency also selected a total of 27 North Korean defector crisis families affected by COVID-19 and supported them with 500,000 won per household, totaling 13.5 million won.
One North Korean defector expressed gratitude, saying, “There was nowhere appropriate to turn to immediately, and with difficulties in living expenses and health problems overlapping, I felt hopeless, but receiving help like rain in a drought gave me great strength.”
