Kim Yong-min, director of Peace Tree and a former member of the podcast 'Naneun Kkomsuda (NaKkomSu)', shared on Facebook on the 6th, "Finally, Mrs. Kang Nan-hee, the wife of Mayor Park Won-soon, has issued a statement," sharing a letter posted on the Facebook account of 'Political Reform Prepared Democratic Party Rights Members Group Blue Dia'.
The writer, presumed to be Kang, began the letter with "Comrades of Park Won-soon, this is Kang Nan-hee," and posted photos of two handwritten letters along with a petition submitted to the National Human Rights Commission. In the handwritten letter, she emphasized, "I still believe the truth has not been revealed," and "My husband Park Won-soon is not that kind of person."
She added, "After reading the statement from the Park Supporters Group, our family is in great sorrow," and noted, "The statement includes content such as 'accepting the Human Rights Commission's sexual harassment ruling, distinguishing Park Won-soon's merits and faults, and acknowledging that no one is a perfect human being.'"
Earlier, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) judged that the actions of the late mayor constituted sexual harassment. Meanwhile, the group supporting Park Won-soon, 'People Who Remember Park Won-soon' (Parkgisa), issued a statement on the 1st saying, "We take the NHRC's decision seriously and offer our sincere condolences to the victim."
Kang said, "My family and I believe in Park Won-soon's morality and think it must be restored," and "I will wholeheartedly consider what and how I must do to ultimately protect him."
She also disclosed a petition submitted before the NHRC's announcement of its ex officio investigation results related to the late mayor. The petition included statements such as "Mayor Park laid the foundation for women's rights" and "Please respect Mayor Park's human rights."
