Reflecting the Increase of 'Homsuljok' in New Delivery Food Menus Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Excluding major delivery foods such as chicken, pizza, and Chinese cuisine, the menu that showed the highest order growth rate over the past year was 'Hamong' (Jamon).
Delivery Hero Korea (CEO Kang Shin-bong) revealed the '2020 BEST New Delivery Food Menu' that received much love from customers on the delivery app Yogiyo over the past year, announcing this result.
According to Yogiyo's tally of the number of orders for new menus that showed the highest order growth rate over the past year excluding major delivery foods, the first place was 'Hamong'. The number of orders increased by 515% compared to the previous year, which seems to have been influenced by the increase in wine sales due to the rise of 'home drinking' amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second place was dried pollack (Meoktae), with a 219% increase in orders compared to the previous year. Meoktae is also a light snack suitable for drinking and was often ordered as a side menu accompanying main dishes. The third place was gopchang, which saw a 163% increase in orders compared to the previous year. Gopchang is a representative Korean drinking snack and was ranked second in Yogiyo's popular search menu last year.

Kim Hyun-deuk, Data Director at Delivery Hero Korea, analyzed, "Last year, as the untact culture spread due to COVID-19, delivery menus immediately reflected changes. In particular, during the prolonged social distancing, consumers increasingly ordered various delivery foods to enjoy small happiness in their home life according to their preferences."
