View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it will support internet, Wi-Fi, and cable TV usage fees for all senior centers in the region to build digital infrastructure.
Last year, support was provided to 189 locations, and this year the target has been expanded to 373 locations.
With this support, senior centers can now use the internet for free without bearing data costs. Additionally, separate channels for each branch are available on cable TV, allowing residents to watch various Bucheon City issues and news from the Korea Senior Citizens Association.
Furthermore, the city is reviewing various educational programs and small-scale non-face-to-face programs such as QR code authentication methods and shopping via smartphones in line with the information age. This consideration is based on the high response from seniors to previous programs like smartphone usage education and the mobile youth cinema.
The city plans to operate small-scale programs with thorough quarantine measures once social distancing levels are eased.
