Chungnam, Asan 'Eochon New Deal 300' Gangmaeul Regeneration Project Accelerates
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is accelerating the ‘Eochon New Deal 300’ Gang Village regeneration project in the Asan area. Eochon New Deal 300 focuses on maximizing the project effects by discovering differentiated content unique to the region using key resources possessed by inland fishing villages and developing inland fishing villages.
The province announced on the 3rd that it will invest 2.06 billion KRW this year to expand inland water infrastructure for local income and job creation in Yeongin-myeon, Inju-myeon, and Seonjang-myeon areas of Asan City.
The main projects include creating inland water infrastructure such as ecological experience centers and community centers, constructing facilities such as spawning grounds, direct sales centers, processing facilities for non-edible fish, fish farms, and mooring docks, as well as collecting local residents’ opinions and enhancing the project’s substance.
Currently, the province is conducting the basic planning service for the Asan area Eochon New Deal 300 project, plans to complete the detailed design by June, start construction in July, and finish the related projects within this year.
The project cost will be covered by 1.44 billion KRW from the national government, 190 million KRW from the provincial government, and 430 million KRW from the city government.

A provincial official stated, “We will continue to cooperate with cities and counties to include more local place names in future Eochon New Deal 300 projects that are additionally announced. In particular, the province will focus on discovering and fostering inland water resources that leverage regional strengths, centering on inland areas with large water surfaces with high development potential such as the Nonsan area, Dangjin area, and Yedang area.”
