13 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Among Recently Arrived USFK Personnel... Total Approaching 700

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The United States Forces Korea (USFK) announced on the 1st that 13 individuals, including 11 USFK soldiers who recently arrived in Korea, 1 family member, and 1 civilian employee, tested positive for COVID-19.
They entered through Osan Air Base or Incheon International Airport between the 15th and 29th of last month. Nine tested positive in COVID-19 tests conducted immediately after arrival. The remaining four were confirmed positive during diagnostic tests before the end of mandatory quarantine. All have been transferred to COVID-19 dedicated isolation facilities within the Pyeongtaek and Osan US military bases and are receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, USFK reported that a family member of a Department of Defense civilian employee living in Seoul also tested positive on the 29th of last month and was moved to an isolation facility within the Pyeongtaek US military base. This individual had been self-quarantining after contact with another confirmed case and tested positive in a mandatory test before the end of quarantine.
