Gyeongnam Fire Department Reports 3.4 Times Increase in 119 Calls During Lunar New Year Holiday Compared to Weekdays
Emergency Medical Support through 119 Ambulance Situation Management Center Operation during Seol Holiday
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] The Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 1st that it will conduct emergency duty for ambulance situation management in preparation for an increase in medical consultation reports during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The period is four days from the 11th to the 14th, and usage information will be actively promoted from the 1st for the convenience of residents.
Last year, the 119 comprehensive situation room conducted a total of 2,211 medical consultations during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The daily average was 553 cases, about 3.4 times the average weekday consultation number of 163 cases.
The main consultation content was guidance on hospitals and clinics operating during the holiday period, accounting for about 82% of all reports, or 1,818 cases.
This year, considering the more limited availability of hospitals and clinics that can be used in emergencies due to COVID-19, two or more professional ambulance situation managers will be additionally deployed during the daytime (09:00~18:00), when consultation cases are high, to prepare for residents’ safety needs.
In addition, focus will be placed on providing two-way emergency services, such as emergency treatment guidance via video calls.
Furthermore, emergency treatment guidelines for each case will be distributed through card news and other means before the holiday period to enhance residents’ safety awareness.
