US Magazine Esquire Selects BTS as One of the 'Greatest Boy Bands of All Time'
Listed Among Top 10 Teenage Groups Alongside The Beatles and Queen
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The famous American magazine Esquire has selected BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) as one of the top 10 greatest bands of all time, alongside legendary British groups such as The Beatles and Queen.
On the 31st (local time), Esquire announced that BTS was included among the top 10 pop bands that have proven the power of popular music.
The magazine introduced the reason for selecting BTS as a top 10 group, stating, "The seven-member group BTS, with their fan club called 'ARMY,' quickly redefined the concepts of boy groups, fandoms, and popular music itself."
The top 10 bands selected by Esquire include BTS, The Beatles, Queen, as well as The Supremes, a Black female trio who were the real-life models for the movie 'Dreamgirls,' Swedish pop stars ABBA, and The Beach Boys, who dominated an era with their hit song "Surfin' U.S.A."
Also included are Fleetwood Mac, who led the golden age of West Coast rock; Sly and the Family Stone, who contributed to the development of punk and psychedelic music; The Temptations, an R&B (rhythm and blues) group with numerous hits including "My Girl"; and Destiny's Child, the pop diva Beyonc?'s former group, all ranked among the 'Top 10 Bands.'
Esquire evaluated, "BTS has been at the forefront of pioneering the global success of K-pop," adding, "BTS's 'Dynamite' and 'Life Goes On,' which topped the Billboard singles chart last year, are captivating songs that blend pop, hip-hop, disco, and R&B."
