Chungnam, 46,000 Vaccinations in Q1 Starting with Healthcare Workers

View original image[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 31st that it will provide free COVID-19 vaccinations to about 46,000 people in the first quarter, starting with medical institution workers at the end of next month.
According to the province, the total number of vaccine recipients in the Chungnam area is approximately 1.79 million. Among them, in the first quarter (February to March), priority vaccinations will be given to first responders such as workers at COVID-19 patient treatment institutions, high-risk medical institution workers, epidemiological investigation personnel, and paramedics, as well as residents and workers of psychiatric care and rehabilitation facilities.
Next, in the second quarter (April to June), about 430,000 people including users and workers of elderly home welfare facilities, seniors aged 65 and older, medical institution and pharmacy workers, and residents and workers of facilities for the disabled and homeless will be vaccinated. In the third quarter (July to September), priority vaccinations will be given to adults aged 50 to 64 with chronic diseases, military personnel, police, firefighters, and workers in social infrastructure facilities.
Additionally, childcare facility workers, children and adolescents, and adults aged 18 to 49 will receive vaccinations sequentially.
To facilitate vaccination, the province plans to sequentially secure the necessary vaccine supplies such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca in accordance with the government’s vaccine supply plan.
Vaccinations will be conducted through 16 vaccination centers to be established in each city and county within the province and about 800 entrusted medical institutions, with applications and vaccinations carried out according to quarterly priority.
For those who have difficulty visiting due to mobility issues, on-site vaccination teams will operate at each public health center.
The province plans to establish detailed implementation plans, including personnel management, next month and to begin full-scale vaccinations.

A provincial official stated, “Vaccines will play the role of a ‘closer’ to end COVID-19 by forming herd immunity,” adding, “However, it is essential to continue following quarantine rules until all vaccinations are completed.”
