[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education will launch the integrated support portal "Mirine," which supports media education and remote classes, starting February 1.
Mirine is a platform created reflecting the media education needs of teachers and parents, providing media education materials along with the latest related information. It focuses on establishing a systematic media education learning system and providing a model for media education linked both online and offline.
Mirine is free to use for anyone without membership registration. It offers educational materials by grade and subject, teaching and learning materials, policy research reports related to media education, video materials, and reference books. To enable teachers to easily and conveniently process materials, various PDFs, Hangul files, copyrighted newspaper articles, and photos are also provided.
The Ministry of Education will distribute two newly developed subject-linked media education materials called Media Exploration Life (for elementary and middle school) through Mirine. Media Exploration Life was developed to be used immediately in classes linked to 12 subjects including Korean, Ethics, and Social Studies. It covers critical understanding of information, response to misinformation, formation of media usage habits, and information ethics.
