Gangwon-do to Begin COVID-19 Vaccinations Starting with Medical Staff in February
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangwon Province plans to sequentially implement free COVID-19 vaccinations starting in February, aiming to achieve herd immunity by November.
The province announced on the 29th, "The priority vaccination group in February will be medical staff at COVID-19 dedicated hospitals. Subsequently, vulnerable groups will be selected by category and vaccinated quarterly according to vaccine supply conditions."
Vaccination sites will also be designated according to vaccine type. The province plans to select 18 vaccination centers, one per city and county, capable of administering mRNA vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna).
For viral vector vaccines (AstraZeneca, Janssen), approximately 450 sites recommended by cities and counties will be reviewed, and about 330 sites will be selected.
Vaccination medical personnel will be additionally secured through local councils of the province and city/county vaccination implementation promotion teams, and medical personnel resources such as military doctors will also be requested from the central government.
