New Minister Park Beom-gye's First Schedule is Dongbu Detention Center
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Park Beom-gye, the newly appointed Minister of Justice, will visit the Seoul Eastern Detention Center, where a mass infection of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) occurred, as his first official schedule.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 28th, Minister Park will visit the Eastern Detention Center located in Songpa-gu, Seoul at 10 a.m. to receive a work report and inspect the quarantine situation.
Earlier, at the confirmation hearing held on the 25th, Minister Park stated, "As soon as I am appointed, I will visit the Eastern Detention Center to have sufficient time to listen," and added, "I plan to examine the reasons for the high number of infections in the East and issues related to crowding." Although it is customary to visit the National Cemetery after taking office, his intention to address current issues first suggests that additional quarantine measures within correctional facilities may be announced at the site that day.
