Israel to Pioneer COVID-19 Vaccination for Under-16s Worldwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Israel is pushing for COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents and children under the age of 16.
On the 27th (local time), according to the 'Times of Israel,' the Israeli Ministry of Health announced a directive supporting the use of vaccines for those under 16, who are at higher risk of severe symptoms if infected with COVID-19.
If approved by the COVID-19 vaccination priority decision committee, Israel will become the first country in the world to vaccinate those under 16.
The Israeli Ministry of Health expressed the view that, considering the recent increase in child infections, the risk of not vaccinating children is greater than the risk associated with insufficient clinical data for the same age group.
