Hyundai Motor Sends Apology Text to Kona EV Customers "We Will Take Full Responsibility Until the End"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Company reportedly sent text messages containing apologies to customers of the Kona Electric (EV) regarding the fire incidents involving the model.
According to industry sources on the 27th, Hyundai stated in the text message sent to Kona EV customers, "We deeply apologize for the fire incidents despite customers' active participation in the recall."
Hyundai explained, "A fire occurred in one Kona EV vehicle that underwent the battery management system update recall conducted last year, after a full charge while the charging connector was still connected. The cause is currently under investigation," adding, "We are working with government agencies, battery manufacturers, and related parties to identify the fundamental cause and prevent recurrence."
Hyundai continued, "Once the investigation results are available, we will promptly and transparently inform customers of follow-up measures and do our best to resolve the issue," and urged, "If you feel any abnormalities with your vehicle, please use the customer safety inspection service available at service centers nationwide."
