CU Launches ‘Seol Holiday Ready Meal Series’ Targeting Single-Person Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CU announced on the 27th that it will launch the "Year of the Ox Ready-to-Eat Meal Series" to commemorate the Year of the Ox.
CU has released ready-to-eat meals targeting honmyeongjok (people spending holidays alone) every year during Lunar New Year and Chuseok. This year, for the Lunar New Year, CU plans to sequentially introduce the holiday ready-to-eat meal series in two phases: Part 1 (Western cuisine) and Part 2 (Korean cuisine).
The first part of the ready-to-eat meal series is aimed at young honmyeongjok and consists of four Western-style dishes using beef (pasta, hamburger, sandwich, French fries). All product packages include the message "Happiness piled up (福)" expressing the hope that everything will go well in the Year of the Ox.
The ragu sauce used in these products applies a recipe developed directly by BGF Retail's product development team, recreating the authentic Bolognese-style ragu sauce flavor with a moist texture while enhancing the flavor of tomato paste.
The Korean ready-to-eat meal series Part 2 will be introduced early next month, featuring authentic holiday dishes.

A BGF Retail official said, "Last year's Chuseok ready-to-eat meal series was very popular, so this year we prepared Western-style ready-to-eat meals so that people in their 20s and 30s can enjoy light home drinking during the holidays. We will focus on enhancing the completeness of the ready-to-eat meals so that honmyeongjok can have a rich holiday."
