[Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun will gather government and ruling party officials, including Kim Yong-beom, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, on the 28th for the Thursday Dialogue to discuss the legislation of compensation for losses caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to government officials, the Thursday Dialogue chaired by Prime Minister Chung on the 28th will be attended by Vice Minister Kim, Kang Sung-cheon, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Yoon Hoo-duk, Chairman of the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee (Democratic Party member), among others, to discuss the legislation of the loss compensation system.
Additionally, academic figures such as Lee Woo-jin, professor of economics at Korea University, and Woo Seok-jin, professor of economics at Myongji University, as well as representatives from the Federation of Small Businesses and the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, are also expected to attend.
Originally, the topic of this week's Thursday Dialogue was carbon neutrality, but due to ongoing controversies regarding the financial burden related to the legislation of loss compensation, the topic was changed to address these issues.
