Kakao Mobility won the Smart Mobility Award at the 11th 'Green Mobility Awards' held on the 26th, hosted by Asia Economy and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment.
Kakao Mobility provides innovative services that make every moment of movement fast and convenient based on the comprehensive mobility platform ‘Kakao T’. Kakao Mobility was recognized for possessing systems and technologies leading the future mobility business and contributing to their dissemination.
The Kakao T application includes various functions such as Kakao Taxi, designated driver, navigation, bike, and parking. The app has 27 million users and 250,000 taxi driver members. Starting with ‘Kakao T Taxi’, Kakao Mobility has continuously expanded its services with ‘Kakao T Designated Driver’, ‘Kakao T Parking’ leading connected parking, a core of the autonomous driving era, electric bicycles ‘Kakao T Bike’, ‘Kakao T Shuttle’, and ‘Kakao T Intercity Bus’, which enable connections to destinations unreachable by public transportation. In February 2018, it launched business taxis and introduced ‘Kakao T Business’ exclusively for corporate members, supporting business travel for over 7,500 companies in Korea.

Recently, Kakao Mobility has been developing future mobility technologies and services based on the data and technological capabilities accumulated through Kakao T, including autonomous vehicles. In March last year, Kakao Mobility obtained a temporary autonomous vehicle operation permit from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, accelerating technology research. Recently, it participated in the national project ‘Development of V2X-based Truck Platooning Operation Technology’ led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, demonstrating technology where multiple trucks travel in a platoon on actual roads using autonomous cooperative driving.
