[Asia Economy Kuala Lumpur Hong Seong-ah, Guest Reporter] Malaysia is the first ASEAN country to begin pilot operations for the commercialization of the next-generation public transportation system, the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART).
On the 26th, local media such as The Edge Market reported that Mobilus has started pilot operations of the ART in Johor Iskandar from this month. The ART will complete its pilot run on the Integrated Mass Rapid Bus Transit (IMBRT) route connecting the outskirts of Iskandar and the center of Johor Bahru, and is scheduled to begin official operations in early 2021.
The Malaysia Institute of Transport under Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) plans to verify operational performance and conduct feasibility studies through the pilot operation.
