Report of Suspected Highly Pathogenic AI Case at Laying Hen Farm in Icheon, Gyeonggi
On the morning of the 21st, culling operations are underway at a layer farm in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, where a highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) was confirmed on the 20th.
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 21st, a suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) occurred at a laying hen farm in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters announced that a suspected AI case was reported at a farm in Icheon raising 478,000 birds. Following a report of suspected deaths from the farm, quarantine authorities conducted tests and detected the H5 type AI antigen. The headquarters is currently conducting detailed tests, and the determination of high pathogenicity will be available in 1 to 3 days.
The headquarters is controlling access to the farm while proactively implementing quarantine measures such as epidemiological investigations, movement restrictions on farms within a 10 km radius, surveillance, and testing. The headquarters urged all farm owners nationwide to follow quarantine rules including disinfecting vehicles, people, and equipment, changing boots, and to immediately report any abnormalities in their poultry to the quarantine authorities.
