Due to the increase in remote classes caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), multicultural students from immigrant families and foreign families faced greater difficulties in learning.
Accordingly, the office supports ‘Wise Korean Language Exploration Life’ and the ‘Multilingual Subtitle Provision Type’ of e-Learning Center’s elementary school curriculum content for self-directed Korean language education and subject learning.
‘Wise Korean Language Exploration Life’ is remote education content for immigrant and foreign family students who need Korean language education, consisting of 30 basic lessons and 30 advanced lessons.
In addition to Korean, it is dubbed in four languages (Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian, Mongolian) and can be conveniently used on ‘iTalkTalk’ and ‘e-Learning Center’.
Existing remote Korean language education content was presented only in Korean or only with multilingual subtitles, causing difficulties in learning.
This content, developed in a dubbing format, enhances learning effectiveness by allowing students who are not proficient in Korean to learn Korean using their native language.
The multilingual translated subtitles of e-Learning Center’s elementary school curriculum content cover five subjects (Korean, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, English) for grades 3 to 6, translated into six languages, providing a total of 404 episodes.
By supporting subject learning in multiple languages, it contributes to improving basic academic skills of multicultural students and can be easily accessed in the e-Learning Center’s city/province specialized content.
Kim Young-mi, a teacher at Gimhae Hap-sung Elementary School who uses ‘Wise Korean Language Exploration Life’ in her classes, said, “Multicultural students encountering Korean for the first time are more interested in learning and actively participating by using the dubbing-type Korean education videos and workbooks centered on school life.”
