Seodaemun-gu Expands 'Artificial Intelligence Caregiver Service' to 450 Recipients
Enhancing Emotional Stability of Vulnerable Single-Person Households Using AI Speakers and Performing Emergency Rescue Requests to Prevent Solitary Deaths
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will expand the target of the ‘AI Caregiver Service’ from the current 200 people to 450 people starting next month.
This service uses AI speakers to enhance the emotional stability of vulnerable single-person households. It also performs emergency rescue request functions in urgent situations to prevent solitary deaths.
The district will invest 275 million KRW of its budget this year to promote this project.
The AI speaker plays news, weather, and music, and also converses with residents. If abnormal signs are detected, such as a prolonged lack of conversation, a ‘care manager’ from the district office’s welfare policy department will make a phone call to check on the resident and conduct emergency visits if necessary.
In particular, it helps protect vulnerable groups and strengthen the social safety net by allowing users to easily request help using only their voice in emergency situations.
The district is recruiting users of the AI Caregiver Service among elderly, middle-aged, and disabled individuals in vulnerable single-person households until the 22nd of this month.
This information has also been provided to basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and low-income basic pension recipients in single-person households through local community centers and welfare centers.
Residents who wish to apply can visit their local community center in person.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Seodaemun Happiness 1004 Call Center.
