LG Display, Chemical Spill Accident at Paju Plant... 6 Injured
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] On the 13th, a chemical leak accident occurred at the LG Display factory in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, resulting in six LG Display workers being injured.
LG Display announced that around 2:10 PM that day, during pipe connection work inside the P8 factory at the Paju plant, tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) leaked, causing casualties.
LG Display explained that immediately after the accident, they reported the incident to the Environmental Agency, Ministry of Labor, fire station, and police station, and after responding with the 119 ambulance team and patients, they were transported to a nearby hospital.
The confirmed casualties include 2 seriously injured and 4 with minor injuries, totaling 6 people. Initially, two workers were reported to be in cardiac arrest, but fortunately, they are currently recovering.
LG Display took immediate measures to prevent secondary damage by shutting off the valve of the related chemical and activating emergency ventilation.
LG Display promptly established an accident response headquarters and plans to fully cooperate with related agencies to identify the cause and manage the accident.
