Eco-Friendly Water Bottles Without "Sangpyo Ddi" to Be Released in Ulsan
Ulsan City, Samjeong Saemmul Co., Ltd., and Ubo Tech Co., Ltd. Agreement
Samjeong Saemmul's 'Sparkle' Product Applied Starting This Month
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Eco-friendly water bottles without label bands will be produced in Ulsan.
On the 13th at 3 p.m., Ulsan City will sign a "Label Band-Free Drinking Water Production Agreement" in the city hall situation room.
The agreement ceremony will be attended by three organizations and companies: Ulsan City (Mayor Song Cheol-ho), Samjeong Saemmul Co., Ltd. (CEO Seong Seung-guk), and Ubo Tech Co., Ltd. (CEO Jeong Hae-il).
Samjeong Saemmul Co., Ltd. produces the drinking water product "Sparkle" at its facility located on Okdong-gil, Duseo-myeon, Ulju-gun.
Starting January 15, Samjeong Saemmul Co., Ltd. plans to apply the "label band-free eco-friendly water bottle" to the "Sparkle" (2ℓ) product and gradually expand it to all products in production.
Separately from this container improvement, Samjeong Saemmul Co., Ltd. has been practicing eco-friendly management since last year by providing a service to collect empty bottles for recycling and consumer convenience when purchasing water through its online mall.
Ubo Tech Co., Ltd., located on Seoknam-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, produces "Eoreumgol Saemmul" and plans to introduce improved containers after exhausting existing container inventory through new equipment installation.
The "label band-free drinking water" product eliminates the label band previously attached to the container surface for small-pack bundled products and instead marks the essential information on the small-pack bundle, improving recyclability from the production stage.
Ulsan City expects that this improvement in drinking water containers will reduce about 26 tons of plastic used annually for PET bottle label bands. Ultimately, if incinerated, it is estimated to reduce 71 tons of greenhouse gases annually.
An official from Ulsan City said, "It is significant that unnecessary packaging materials are reduced from the production stage to minimize waste generation and consider resource recycling," adding, "It will help raise awareness that consumers can participate in resource recycling through small daily actions, contributing to carbon neutrality and climate crisis response."
