Customized Jobs for the Hearing Impaired: CJ Logistics Launches 'Blue Taekbae'
Silver Delivery for Seniors, Blue Delivery for the Hearing Impaired... "Continuing to Discover CSV Projects"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] CJ Logistics has launched a courier service for the hearing impaired as part of its Creating Shared Value (CSV) initiative.
On the 12th, CJ Logistics announced that it would start the Blue Courier service for the hearing impaired in the Songdo SK View complex in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, in collaboration with SL Logistics and the Incheon branch of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.
The Songdo SK View Blue Courier service delivers parcels to a total of 2,100 households, employing five local hearing-impaired workers. Each worker delivers an average of 150 parcels per day, totaling 4,000 parcels per month to individual homes.
Blue Courier is a last-mile delivery service where hearing-impaired couriers deliver parcels transported to designated hubs within the apartment complex to each household. Unlike the traditional method where couriers receive parcels at a sub-terminal and deliver them directly to homes, Blue Courier couriers sort and deliver parcels by area after the courier transports them to the hub within the complex.
Since July last year, the Songdo SK View Blue Courier has established a stable system through a pilot operation delivering 100,000 parcels over approximately seven months. The company explained that, unlike before when direct face-to-face delivery and communication with customers were necessary, the widespread use of non-face-to-face communication and text messaging has minimized inconveniences related to hearing impairment during the service process.

CJ Logistics plans to continue expanding its CSV projects that provide quality jobs, such as the Silver Courier service for seniors and the Blue Courier service. A CJ Logistics representative stated, "Based on this community cooperation model, we plan to expand the service to nearby apartment complexes," adding, "We will continue to discover sustainable CSV models based on logistics."
