Gangseo 50 Plus Center Officially Opens for Operation
Creation of a Basement 1 to Ground 2 Floor Facility in Deungchon 3-dong Area... Space for Middle-Aged and Older Adults for Career Development, Life Planning, and Community
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will officially operate the ‘Gangseo 50 Plus Center’ from the 11th to support the second act of life for middle-aged and older adults.
Among the '5060 generation' who have worked for decades and retired, many are actively engaged in social activities based on their accumulated experience.
However, the reality is that many '5060 generation' individuals spend a lot of time at home without engaging in activities due to surrounding circumstances and other limitations.
Accordingly, the district established the Gangseo 50 Plus Center in Deungchon 3-dong (166 Gangseo-ro 56ga-gil, Gangseo-gu) with a scale of basement 1 to ground 2 floors (total floor area 2,288.11㎡) to help the 5060 generation redesign their lives and contribute to society.
The Gangseo 50 Plus Center is well-equipped with various spaces for creativity, exchange, and growth tailored for middle-aged and older adults.
The basement 1 floor ‘Creative Space’ consists of a shared practice room for education requiring large spaces such as woodworking and crafts, and a digital media room for digital media education.
The 1st floor ‘Exchange Space’ includes the 50+ Lounge, a counseling, small group, rest, and information exchange area, and the 50+ Salon, which will be used as a regional network space.
The 2nd floor ‘Growth Space’ is prepared as a solid support area for career development, entrepreneurship, and self-improvement.
There are shared offices for entrepreneurship support, community rooms available for various meetings, multipurpose rooms and lecture rooms where various cultural leisure programs and career development education programs are operated.
In particular, the shared office is a space to help middle-aged and older adults with economic startups and organization establishment, providing office space and shared office equipment infrastructure to teams or organizations preparing to establish public interest organizations or startups.
It also supports the 50 Plus generation to realize their dreams through customized consulting and special lectures for capacity building.
The center plans to sequentially carry out ‘Life Design Projects’ that allow redesigning life in areas such as work, social contribution, family, finance, and health; ‘Career Development Projects’ based on experience and seniority; ‘Community Projects’ that help form social relationships; and ‘Cultural Creation Projects’ supporting various hobbies and leisure activities.
However, until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes, face-to-face group programs will not be conducted, and various online special lectures and non-face-to-face real-time classes will be operated through the website and the YouTube channel ‘Gangseo 50 Plus Center.’
