Korea-Spain Foreign Ministers' Call... Continued Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation on COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call on the 8th at the request of Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez Laya to discuss △ cooperation in response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) △ cooperation on the international stage △ the situation in key regions such as Northeast Asia.
The two ministers evaluated that although the world is experiencing a stronger third wave of COVID-19 than the first and second waves, the recent situation is gradually improving. They shared the status of vaccine supply in both countries and agreed to continue cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels to respond to COVID-19.
In particular, Minister Kang expressed hope that "Spain's accession process to the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), headquartered in Korea, will be completed promptly," and requested that "Spain actively participate in the upcoming P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals 2030) Summit to be hosted by the government." Spain's accession was approved by the IVI board, but the process has not yet been completed due to Spain's failure to submit the accession documents.
