Jeonnam Fire Department Urges Refraining from Going Out During Heavy Snow and Cold Waves
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) has urged caution as the number of casualties among residents has increased due to heavy snow and cold waves this winter.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 8th, recently in Haebo-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, an elderly person in their 80s who was in a vinyl greenhouse was transported to the hospital due to hypothermia, and in a livestock barn in Haenam-gun, a water tank froze and burst. In a restaurant in Jindo-gun, a water pipe froze and burst, prompting emergency water supply support from the fire authorities.
Currently, cold wave warnings have been issued in Naju, Yeongam, Suncheon, and Boseong areas, and as the Arctic cold wave is expected to persist for some time, Jeonnam Fire has requested residents to refrain from going out during heavy snow and cold waves.
They also emphasized that in situations requiring prior inspection and safety measures to prevent pipe freezing, people should report to 119.
Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, “Jeonnam Fire is implementing emergency rescue measures for the safety of residents during winter, but refraining from going out and driving during heavy snow and cold waves is the best preventive measure. We also ask for the active cooperation of residents along with caution in using heating devices during winter.”
