As part of the "Disabled Parking Space Management and Care System Establishment Project," selected in the 2020 Gyeongsangnam-do Resident Participation Budget Contest, the city installed CCTV monitoring systems last December at three locations with high citizen traffic: Gimhae City Hall, Gimhae City Council, and the Western Health Support Center, covering nine parking spaces.
After a pilot operation until February, fines will be imposed on violating vehicles starting in March. The fines are 100,000 KRW for general vehicles parking in restricted areas, 500,000 KRW for obstructive parking, and 2,000,000 KRW for improper use such as forgery or alteration of parking permits.
The city plans to verify the effectiveness of the project through operational data analysis and subsequently expand the system to areas with habitual illegal activities.
It is expected that this systematic reinforcement will improve the frequent illegal parking behavior of non-disabled individuals in disabled parking spaces.
