Pohang City Creates Barrier-Free 'Integrated Playground' Next to Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Pohang City announced on the 7th that it has created an inclusive playground near the Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled where children with disabilities and non-disabled children can play together.
The "Barrier-Free Inclusive Playground," established as a follow-up measure to the revision of the "Ordinance on the Management of Children's Parks and Playgrounds" in February last year, is a socially inclusive playground without physical barriers such as curbs, stairs, or narrow paths that hinder walking, allowing everyone to enjoy the playground without discrimination.
The 300㎡ barrier-free inclusive playground's combined play structure features ramps accessible by wheelchair instead of curbs and stairs. Various facilities such as a rotating stage, a lying seesaw, basket swings, and trampolines have been installed to ensure that socially vulnerable users do not experience inconvenience while using the play equipment, enabling children with disabilities and non-disabled children to enjoy the playground together.
