New Confirmed Cases 870... Below 1,000 for Three Consecutive Days (Update)

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea was in the 800s on the 7th. Following 700s on the 5th and 800s the previous day, the number remained below 1,000 for three consecutive days.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on that day, the total number of COVID-19 cases increased by 870 from the previous day to 66,686.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases, 833 were locally transmitted and 37 were imported from overseas.
More than 7 out of 10 locally transmitted cases occurred in the Seoul metropolitan area. Among the local cases, 294 were in Gyeonggi, 292 in Seoul, and 37 in Incheon, totaling 623 cases in the metropolitan area, accounting for 74.8% of all cases.
Additionally, confirmed cases were reported in Gyeongbuk 34, Gangwon 30, Gwangju 28, Busan 23, Gyeongnam 20, Chungnam 19, Chungbuk 14, Daegu 10, Jeju 9, Daejeon 9, Ulsan 9, Sejong 3, and Jeonbuk 2.
Among the 37 imported cases, 14 were identified during quarantine upon entry. The rest tested positive while in self-quarantine at their residences or temporary living facilities in Gyeonggi 9, Seoul 6, Incheon 4, Gyeongbuk 2, Jeonnam 1, and Chungnam 1.

The number of patients who have recovered and been released from isolation reached 47,649, an increase of 654 from the previous day. The death toll rose by 19 to 1,046.
