The confirmed cases among nursing academy students in Gumi are also showing signs of spreading to nearby Gimcheon and Chilgok.
Due to the cluster infection at the Gumi nursing academy on this day (12 in Gumi, 2 in Chilgok, 1 in Gimcheon), the daily number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk region increased again to the mid-30s after staying in the 10-20 range for about ten days.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 7th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk region increased by 36 (including 2 imported cases) from the previous day to 2,553 (including 120 imported cases).
New confirmed cases by region are 16 in Gumi, 8 in Pohang, 4 in Sangju, 3 in Chilgok, 2 each in Gyeongju and Gimcheon, and 1 in Gyeongsan.
Among the 16 new confirmed cases in Gumi, 12 are nursing academy students located in Gumi. One student at this academy was confirmed positive the day before.
Among the other new confirmed cases, 3 are church-related (1 from Songjeong Church, 2 from Saemsotneun Church), and another 1 is a contact of a previous confirmed case (Gumi case number 282). The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to Songjeong Church increased to 80, including 1 case confirmed on this day.
Among the 8 new confirmed cases in Pohang, 5 are contacts of previous confirmed cases (including 1 from Guryongpo), and the infection routes of the other 3 are unknown.
The 4 new confirmed cases in Sangju are all contacts of local previous confirmed cases, including 1 related to Hanyeonghon Church. Regarding Hanyeonghon Church, the number of confirmed cases officially announced by the health authorities so far has reached 26, including 8 people such as the pastor, family, and congregation confirmed positive on the 25th of last month.
Among the 3 new confirmed cases in Chilgok County, 2 are contacts of confirmed cases related to the Gumi nursing academy (Gimcheon case number 88), and the other 1 is an imported case from North America.
Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Gyeongju, 1 is a contact of a confirmed case in Sejong City (Sejong case number 143), and the other 1 is an imported case from Asia.
Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Gimcheon, 1 is a contact of a confirmed case related to the Gumi nursing academy (Gimcheon case number 88), and the other was confirmed positive during a pre-admission diagnostic test for hospital admission.
The 1 new confirmed case in Gyeongsan was diagnosed positive after visiting a screening clinic with symptoms.
In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 167 people (excluding imported cases) were confirmed positive across the region in the past week, resulting in a weekly daily average of 23.9 confirmed cases.
