Gyeongnam Reports 20 New Confirmed Cases... Total Confirmed Cases Reach 1,451

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] As the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in South Korea shows no signs of slowing down, double-digit confirmed cases continue to occur in Gyeongnam Province.

Gyeongnam Province announced that as of 1:30 PM on the 5th, a total of 20 confirmed cases were reported: 10 in Jinju, 6 in Changwon, 2 in Hadong, 1 in Gimhae, and 1 in Geoje.

Among the 10 confirmed cases in Jinju, 5 were contacts of confirmed cases within the province and were classified as cases 1435, 1437, 1446, 1449, and 1454.

Another 2 individuals, who felt symptoms themselves and got tested, were confirmed positive and classified as cases 1445 and 1452. Their infection routes are currently under investigation.

Two overseas entrants were also confirmed positive and classified as cases 1450 and 1451.

Additionally, one person who had contact with a confirmed case from Chungnam was classified as case 1453.

Among the 6 confirmed cases in Changwon, 2 individuals who felt symptoms themselves and got tested were classified as cases 1436 and 1444. Their infection routes are currently under investigation.

One person who had contact with a confirmed case within the province and was under self-quarantine felt symptoms and got tested, being classified as case 1440.

Two confirmed cases related to the provincial Office of Education, who are family members, tested positive before release from quarantine and were classified as cases 1441 and 1442. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the provincial Office of Education to 14.

Additionally, one overseas entrant was classified as case 1443.

The 2 confirmed cases in Hadong were both contacts of confirmed cases from Jeonnam and were classified as cases 1447 and 1448. Case 1447 is a student attending a middle school in Hadong, and full testing will be conducted for 23 faculty members and 82 students at the school.

The single confirmed case in Gimhae was related to a Busan insurance office and was classified as case 1438. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Busan insurance office to 13.

The single confirmed case in Geoje, who felt symptoms themselves and got tested, was classified as case 1439, with the infection route under investigation.
