2020 was a year of great achievements for the Dongseo University Startup Support Group. They won numerous government projects worth over 10 billion KRW, including the Early Startup Package, Laboratory Specialized Startup Leading University, Laboratory Startup Innovator Development Project, and Maker Space Establishment and Operation Project.
At the end of last year, another piece of 'good news' arrived. The group capped off the year by producing an awardee who received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
At the '2020 Busan Venture Startup Festival' held on December 30, 2020, at Gwangalli Aqua Palace, Dongseo University Startup Support Group Manager Lee Soo-young was recognized for contributions to startup support and received the highest honor, the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award.
Al&Ci Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Seung-man), a university family company founded by a graduate of this university, was also recognized for its contributions to regional development and received the Busan Design Promotion Institute Director Award.
Since 2016, the Busan Venture Startup Festival has been an event organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to commend startup support organizations and outstanding companies with significant contributions related to the Preliminary Startup Package, Early Startup Package, and Startup Leap Package projects.
It is the largest startup festival in Busan, serving as a place to share the year's business achievements and strengthen the startup network.
While the event usually attracts over 300 attendees annually, it was scaled down this time due to COVID-19. Only about 20 officials, including the Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration Chief and heads of six startup support organizations such as Dongseo University and Pusan National University, attended.
The event, held simultaneously online and offline, presented awards to seven startup contributors and seven outstanding entrepreneurs, including the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award, the Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Award, and the Busan Small and Medium Venture Business Administration Chief Award. Startup lectures and presentations of successful cases by outstanding companies were also held.
