LGU+ Launches Mid-Range 5G Plans... Around 40,000 KRW with 6GB Data Provided

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus is launching a new 5G plan in the 40,000 KRW range. As the number of 5G subscribers surpasses 10 million, telecom companies are accelerating competition in mid- to low-priced plans.
On the 5th, LG Uplus announced that it will release two mid- to low-priced 5G plans with lower prices and increased data capacity.
The '5G Slim+', launching on the 11th, offers 6GB of 5G data for 47,000 KRW per month. After the data allowance is used up, unlimited usage is available at a speed of 400Kbps. With a 25% discount for contract selection, the monthly fee is 35,250 KRW. Although it is 2,000 KRW more expensive than competitors' 40,000 KRW plans, it provides 1GB more data.
LG Uplus will revamp its existing '5G Light' plan and release '5G Light+' on the 29th of this month, increasing the data allowance by 33%. Previously, it offered 9GB of data for 55,000 KRW per month, but now the monthly data allowance has increased to 12GB. The cost per 1GB is 4,583 KRW, the lowest among 5G mid- to low-priced plans in the 50,000 KRW range. When data is exhausted, unlimited data is provided at a speed of 1Mbps. With the contract selection discount applied, it can be used for 41,250 KRW per month.
LG Uplus expects the launch of mid- to low-priced 5G plans to further activate the 5G mid- to low-priced market. As the plans become more affordable, it is anticipated that light users who use entry-level 5G devices will spread further.
