Sancheong-gun Hometown Scholarship Foundation 2020 Second Half Scholarship Award Ceremony
39.25 Million KRW Paid to 111 Recipients
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Foundation in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, announced on the 4th that it has awarded local scholarships to recipients of the second half of 2020 scholarship projects.
The foundation, based on recommendations from each school, awarded a total of 39.25 million KRW to 111 recipients, including 24 recipients of arts and physical education scholarships and 87 recipients of general scholarships for middle and high school students (children from low-income families and high-achieving students).
Earlier, in the first half of this year’s scholarship project, a total of 156 million KRW was awarded to 92 recipients, including 5 high school entrance scholarships, 65 living scholarships for university students (new and continuing students), and 22 living scholarships for children from low-income families in elementary, middle, and high schools.
Representatives from Sancheong-gun and the Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Foundation said, “We hope this scholarship delivery will help students who are facing greater difficulties due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to carry out various scholarship projects and educational environment improvement projects so that local talents can grow into outstanding members of society.”

Meanwhile, the Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Foundation promotes scholarship projects every year to nurture local talents, targeting local elementary, middle, and high school students, university students, and children from low-income families. In addition, it carries out various educational environment improvement projects such as special aptitude education, operation of native English assistant teachers, and support for meal expenses at unlicensed schools.
