Attending the memorial service were Mayor Ju Nak-young, National Assembly member Kim Seok-ki, Seo Ho-dae, chairman of the city council, and about 10 heads of veterans and organizations.
Mayor Ju said, "As we greet the new morning of the Year of the Ox, I hope it will be a hopeful new year in which the local economy revives and the lives of citizens improve significantly," and pledged, "We will gather all our capabilities through solidarity and cooperation with citizens to carry out city administration."
He then moved to the city hall and replaced the opening ceremony by delivering New Year's greetings to the staff through a non-face-to-face video conference.
