Development of Mapo-type Big Data Commercial Area Analysis Platform, Support for Small Business Online Sales Channels... Brain Lesion Disability Center, Smart Library, Installation of Emergency Fire Cabinets in Alley Markets' Basements, and 57 Core Policies for 2021 to Enhance Resident Happiness Post-COVID-19 Revealed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) has unveiled new policies for 2021.
Mapo-gu has established 368 projects as its major work plans for 2021, presenting "Innovation Amid Environmental Changes" as the keyword for 57 core projects.
The core projects for Mapo-gu in 2021 include ▲improvement of the household waste collection system ▲installation of underground emergency fire extinguishing boxes, the "underground fire station" ▲replacement of street vendor facilities ▲Mapo-style big data analysis and utilization for smart administration ▲online sales support for small business owners ▲operation of the Mapo Brain Lesion Disabled Vision Center ▲installation of smart libraries ▲urban regeneration project in Hapjeong-dong ▲construction of the Mapo Love Disinfection Map ▲ICT-based non-face-to-face health management project for seniors, among others.
Starting in 2021, Mapo-gu will improve the household waste (general, recyclable, food waste) collection system. The current collection frequency of three times a week will be expanded to five times a week, which is expected to greatly alleviate residents' inconvenience related to waste disposal.
Additionally, a large waste collection system via mobile will be implemented. Residents can use the mobile waste collection app "Ppaegi" to register photos of items to be disposed of, allowing moving companies to assist with disposal or sell items to secondhand trading companies.
In alley markets where fire trucks have difficulty accessing during fires, "underground emergency fire extinguishing boxes" accessible to anyone will be installed. By June, the district plans to install a total of 10 underground fire extinguishing boxes in three traditional markets: Mangwon Market, World Cup Market, and Ahyeon Market, aiming to minimize casualties and property damage caused by fires.
A project to support the improvement of street vendors' business environments is also planned. The old street vendor stalls will be replaced with uniquely designed facilities characteristic of Mapo-gu to improve urban aesthetics and enhance the business environment for street vendors.
Smart administration utilizing big data analysis tailored to the Mapo area will also be attempted. The district plans to develop and release in February the "Mapo Ddarungi Commercial Area Map," which visualizes niche and themed commercial areas by cross-analyzing major routes and commercial districts of the public bicycle system (Ddarungi). In March, a dedicated commercial area analysis platform for Mapo-gu will be launched, enabling small business owners starting up in Mapo to utilize related big data.
With the expansion of non-face-to-face culture and residents' online shopping and delivery consumption due to COVID-19, support for local small business owners' open market sales channels will be provided. Starting in March, support procedures will begin for small business owners in Mapo-gu who are early entrants into online open markets such as Naver, Coupang, and Interpark, providing up to 1 million KRW per company for material production and marketing costs.
For the first time nationwide, a dedicated facility providing customized comprehensive services for people with severe brain lesions will be installed and operated. The Brain Lesion Disabled Vision Center was completed in December last year on the second floor of Uri Mapo Welfare Center, and from February next year, support programs in education, health, care, and culture will be operated there.
In June, a smart library with 24-hour unmanned lending and return services will be installed and activated at Gongdeok Station subway. The district plans to continuously install smart library kiosks in areas with high foot traffic or underserved by libraries, targeting members of Mapo Central Library.
The Hapjeong-dong urban regeneration activation project, selected in the 2020 Seoul-type urban regeneration activation contest, also presents a vision for the next five years. By 2024, urban regeneration activation projects will be promoted over an area of 93,000㎡ around 369 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, including ▲installation of resident convenience facilities such as community centers ▲historical and cultural regeneration projects linked to local resources such as Jeoldusan Martyrs' Shrine, Yanghwajin Historical Park, and Seoul Thermal Power Plant ▲housing repair, remodeling support, and street environment maintenance to improve residential environments.
In addition, in the health sector, the "Mapo Love Disinfection Map" service will be provided, which discloses real-time disinfection status on the public health center website and offers services such as disinfection cycle notifications and disinfection requests. AI and IoT-based non-face-to-face health management services will be implemented to improve seniors' self-management capabilities.
Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, who regards residents' happiness as the philosophy of district administration, is determined to lead residents' happiness through policies that promote communication, change, and innovation.
