[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki stated on the 3rd, "Exports have performed better compared to other countries and are expected to be the main driver providing momentum for economic recovery this year."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong, during his first field visit of the year to the production line of Cowintech, a manufacturer of automated equipment for secondary batteries and semiconductors, wrote on Facebook, "Despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Korea's total exports surpassed 500 billion dollars last year."
He added, "Cowintech also faced difficulties due to COVID-19 but expanded into China last year and plans to establish a U.S. subsidiary this year," expressing pride in "the determination and capabilities of our export companies."

He emphasized, "To help small and medium-sized export companies pioneer new markets and demonstrate their capabilities, we will provide liquidity of 256 trillion won through policy financial institutions this year and support non-face-to-face market development," adding, "We will also work to resolve difficulties faced by businesspeople entering and exiting the country through expanding the fast track system, and strive to expand economic territories through initiatives such as the New Southern Policy, early implementation of RCEP, and consideration of joining CPTPP."
