First COVID-19 Variant Case Detected in China... "Entered from the UK"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] It was revealed on the 31st that a patient infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) variant originating from the UK was first discovered in China.
According to AFP, the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) disclosed this fact through a 'Research Note' published the day before. The patient is a 23-year-old woman who entered Shanghai from the UK on the 14th and was hospitalized immediately upon arrival in Shanghai. Chinese health authorities are tracking contacts.
Along with this, direct flights between the UK and China were temporarily suspended on the 24th. However, Chinese authorities have not officially announced this fact yet.

This variant virus, first discovered in the UK, is known to have a higher transmissibility than the existing COVID-19 virus. It has currently spread to about 30 countries worldwide.
