In his New Year's address on the 31st, Commissioner Shin expressed his ambition, saying, "The central and local governments will unite and develop harmoniously, expanding human and material exchanges to strengthen organizational power in order to achieve unified goals."
He stated, "As the organization grows and duties expand, we will proactively reflect on and analyze potential issues to reinforce the organization’s identity."
He emphasized eliminating factors that hinder the development of firefighting and efficient work performance, while also ensuring the safety of firefighters.
Commissioner Shin said, "We will boldly improve unreasonable elements so that policies are effective on the ground and support disaster response activities," adding, "We will firmly establish a health and safety management system so that all firefighting families can operate safely."
He cited the activities of the 119 emergency medical service, a pillar of the globally recognized 'K-Quarantine,' as the greatest achievement in the inaugural year of firefighting nationalization.
Commissioner Shin recalled, "The world experienced tense and difficult days every day amid the shock of the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)," and added, "Even in such circumstances, our firefighting service achieved historic results."
