High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Confirmed at Broiler Farm in Nonsan, Chungnam
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Avian Influenza (AI) announced on the 30th that highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N8) was confirmed at a broiler farm located in Nonsan-si, Chungnam.
Accordingly, the headquarters will implement strengthened quarantine measures including ▲preventive culling of poultry within a 3km radius of the affected farm ▲a 30-day movement restriction and AI mass testing for poultry farms within a 10km radius ▲a 7-day movement restriction for all poultry farms located in Iksan-si, the affected area.

A representative of the headquarters stated, "This is a serious situation with a high risk of highly pathogenic AI outbreak if disinfection and quarantine practices at farms are even slightly insufficient," and urged, "Farm owners must strictly follow quarantine rules such as disinfecting vehicles, people, and equipment, changing boots, and immediately report any abnormalities in the poultry to the quarantine authorities."
