Seoul Reports 387 New Cases Yesterday... 28 Confirmed at Dongdaemun Senior Welfare Facility

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As cluster infections of COVID-19 have occurred and spread in elderly nursing homes, welfare centers, postpartum care centers, religious and correctional facilities, the number of confirmed cases in Seoul remained in the 300s again yesterday.
As of the 30th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 387 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 18,638.
The daily number of new confirmed cases in Seoul first exceeded 300 on the 11th of this month, then surpassed 400 on the 16th, and 500 on the 24th. Since the 15th, the daily cases have continuously remained above 300 for fifteen consecutive days.
On the 29th, a cluster infection was confirmed at an elderly welfare facility in Dongdaemun-gu, with a total of 28 confirmed cases so far at this location. Seven people were also infected in a postpartum care center in Guro-gu.
Earlier, 15 additional confirmed cases related to a religious facility in Jungnang-gu were reported, bringing the total to 41. Fourteen cases were added at the Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu (cumulative total 771), 14 at nursing hospitals and nursing homes in Guro-gu (cumulative total 190), 5 related to nursing facilities in Yangcheon-gu (cumulative total 35), and 3 related to a church in Gangseo-gu (cumulative total 245).
There were 166 cases from contact with other confirmed patients, 6 from contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, 4 imported cases from overseas, and 120 cases with infection routes under investigation.
In Seoul, 5 COVID-19 related deaths were reported just the previous day, bringing the total cumulative deaths to 172.
So far, 10,125 people have been declared recovered and discharged, while 8,341 are currently in isolation and receiving treatment.
