On the 29th, Korail Logistics and Namdaemun Market Signed a Business Agreement, Standing Tall as a Win-Win Model in the Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu District Office in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Yang-ho) signed a business agreement for mutual growth of the local community with Korail Logistics (CEO Yoon Yang-su) and Namdaemun Market at 1 p.m. on the 29th at the Namdaemun Market Merchants Association office.
This year, as a self-help measure to revive the local economy struggling due to COVID-19, the district is discovering companies that want to engage in social contribution activities and is exploring various ways to coexist with traditional markets.
In response to these efforts by the district, Korail Logistics stepped forward to help small merchants in Namdaemun Market, resulting in the conclusion of the business agreement between the two parties.
According to the agreement, Korail Logistics will support quarantine efforts by cleaning door handles and spraying disinfectants in Namdaemun Market, where quarantine is vulnerable, and will provide quarantine supplies and personnel to help the market strengthen its own quarantine measures.
Namdaemun Market agreed to sell goods needed by Korail Logistics at wholesale prices. Additionally, the market plans to explore the possibility of wholesale merchants using Korail Logistics for goods transportation.
After the signing ceremony, Korail Logistics executives and employees, together with merchants, thoroughly conducted spray disinfection and quarantine from the basement to the third floor of buildings in Namdaemun Market, focusing on Jungang Shopping Center and Daedo General Shopping Center.
They also purchased necessary items such as office supplies to assist the merchants of Namdaemun Market.
Yoon Yang-su, CEO of Korail Logistics, said, "I hope this can be of some help to the operation of traditional markets struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "As a public enterprise responsible for Korail's transportation operations, we will regularly promote various social contribution activities with Namdaemun Market as a milestone through this MOU."
