LH Next President Recruitment, Park Seon-ho and Kim Se-yong Considered
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) will open applications for the 5th new president from the 29th until January 5th of next year.
The LH Executive Recommendation Committee (ERC) began the application process on the same day after the appointment of former president Byun Chang-heum as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport was confirmed the day before. The ERC is composed of five non-standing director members and four external members.
The ERC plans to complete the selection of the new president by late January or early February next year after receiving applications by the 5th of next month, conducting candidate verification, document and interview evaluations, and going through the Public Institution Operation Committee (PIOC) process.
The ERC will shortlist five times the number of candidates and recommend them to the PIOC, which will review and approve the final candidate. Then, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will propose the appointment, followed by presidential approval, completing the appointment process of the new president.
Among the candidates for the next LH president are former First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Park Sun-ho and Kim Se-yong, president of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation). Former Vice Minister Park is a representative housing policy expert bureaucrat who worked closely with former Minister Kim Hyun-mi. He was also considered a candidate for the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
President Kim of SH Corporation, a former Korea University professor, is mentioned as a potential next leader due to his experience implementing the government's plan to expand housing supply in the Seoul metropolitan area on the ground. He took office as the 14th president of SH Corporation in 2018, and his term lasts until this year.
