Gimhae City to Issue 100 Billion KRW Worth of Gimhae Love Gift Certificates Next Year
February Launch of IC Card Type 'Gimhae Sarang Card'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 29th that it will expand the issuance of the Gimhae Love Gift Certificate to 100 billion KRW next year.
This year, the initial issuance target of 50 billion KRW was increased by an additional 10 billion KRW due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a total sell-out of 60 billion KRW.
As non-face-to-face payment, a characteristic of mobile gift certificates, became a preferred payment method for both users and merchants, the number of Zero Pay affiliated stores, where the certificates can be used, increased about threefold from around 5,000 last year to approximately 14,700 this year.
Meanwhile, an upgraded card-type gift certificate with easy usage will be launched next year.
The card-type gift certificate, first introduced this year, had many usage errors and issuance was suspended, but to assist those who find mobile use difficult, an IC card-type gift certificate with fewer errors is planned to be released in February.
The Gimhae Love Card, a card-type gift certificate, can be applied for through the Gyeongnam Regional Gift Certificate app on the Gyeongnam Province application.
